Hyderabad-Karnataka Liberation Day, officially known as,\u00a0Kalyana Karnataka\u00a0Liberation Day Vimochana Diwas\u00a0is an annual festival celebrated in seven districts like\u00a0Bidar District,\u00a0Kalaburgi District,\u00a0Yadgir District , Raichur District,\u00a0Bellari District\u00a0&\u00a0Koppal District,\u00a0Vijaynagara District, of\u00a0Karnataka state,\u00a0India. It takes place on 17 September. The festival celebrates the annexation of Hyderabad by India in 1948<\/p>\n
At the time of Partition in 1947, the\u00a0Princely State\u00a0of India, who in principle had self-government within their own territories, were subject to\u00a0Subsidiary alliances with the British, giving them control of their external relations. With the\u00a0Indian independence Day 1947, the British abandoned all such alliances, leaving the states with the option of opting for full independence.\u00a0However, by 1948 almost all had\u00a0acceded\u00a0to either India or Pakistan. One major exception was that of the wealthiest and most powerful principality, Hyderabad, where the Nizam,\u00a0Mir Osman Ali Khan, Asif Jah Vll, a Muslim ruler.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
